"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Philippians 4:8)
This verse sums up why I love to read (and write!) Christian fiction.
Much of the entertainment and media in this world today are filled with things that don't fit this description. And in our Christian freedom, we can choose what we watch/listen to/read. But this verse also provides a reminder that as we make those decisions, we want to keep in mind whether they will build us up in thinking about things that are "excellent and praiseworthy" or lead us away from those things. The more we keep our eyes on the kinds of things that are pure and noble and admirable, the easier it is to tune out some of those other things that aren't.
